Fashion 411: Gigi and Bella Go Nude, Gucci’s First Aminoji, Planet Donatella, Rodarte’s Digital Dreamgirls

Sister, Sister: Gigi and Bella’s Dual Vogue Covers

Gigi and Bella Hadid continue to dominate magazine covers – so much so that editor in chief Edward Enninful produced two separate covers of the March issue of British Vogue featuring the supermodel sisters. Shot by Steven Meisel and styled by Joe McKenna, it’s the first dual covers of the model’s careers. Added bonus: Gigi and Bella appear on the inside in a nude embrace.

Rodarte’s Girl Gang

Speaking of sister acts, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the designers of Rodarte are skipping New York Fashion Week and instead released a digital look book featuring their friends and women who inspire them. The portrait series, shot by Autumn de Wilde, made news because it features the first image of Kirsten Dunst’s baby bump. The series also stars musician Grimes, Rowan Blanchard, director Gia Coppola, Hong Chau, Tessa Thompson and Ava Philippe, the daughter of Ryan Philippe and Reese Witherspoon who makes her modeling debut for Rodarte.

Donatella Versace is Everywhere

With the non-Versace family approved Ryan Murphy FX miniseries “The Assassination of Gianni Versace” on the air (with Penelope Cruz playing Donatella Versace), the ice-blonde designer is everywhere. Donatella, in a pink vintage-logo Versace tee shirt, is the subject of Vogue’s “73 Questions” video series. She reveals that her personal hashtag is #Blonde (duh!) and that she’s very excited for the Met Gala. She also mentions that most Americans pronounce Versace wrong: it’s Versach-eh not Versach-ee or vare-sace as Elizabeth Berkley infamously mispronounced the label in “Showgirls.”

And Penelope Cruz (sans the Donatella pin-straight, white-blonde locks) is on the cover of the March fashion issue of Town & Country with Edgar Ramirez, who plays Gianna Versace in the FX show. Shot my Tom Munro, Cruz says of Donatella: “To me she is like a heroine. She has demonstrated in so many ways in her life how to be an incredible woman.”

Meanwhile, remember when Maya Rudolph lampooned Donatella on Saturday Night Live? We definitely think it’s prime time for Rudolph to revisit her deadpan, chain-smoking Donatella impression.

Just in time for Fashion Week, Gucci has released it’s first ever animoji. The cute dog animojis are based on creative director Alessandro Michele’s Boston terriers, Bosco and Orso and were inspired by the work of frequent Gucci collaborator, artist and Instagram star Unskilled Worker. You can download the Gucci animojis here.
